Harvest Crusade 2008

Summer Harvest Crusade 2008!!! What a memorable weekend.
But, before I go any further, let me just take my moment to
remember Christopher Laurie. Thursday, July 24th, 2008 was
the day that God took Christopher home to be with him. The
Harvest Crusade has the work of 'Topher' written all over it,
and sadly this will be the last year we will see his art.

Southern California Harvest 08 with Greg Laurie

This was the 18th or is it 19th year that the crusades have
been going on. What a blessing!!! And as impossible as this
sounds I have been there ALL those years!!! The weekend
should be dedicated to the life of Christopher Laurie. The
stadium was jam packed, not an empty seat in the house...
and it was at the Angel's Stadium!!! For those people who
were turned away due to over crowds, I hope you watched
from home!!!

Lisa's Makeover :)

Sparkle Your Destiny's first Model was my lovely friend Lisa. I was in total disbelief when Lisa told me that her hair was Virgin...
The cosmetology blood in me boiled!!! ;)
She started off with medium length wavy dark brown hair...and walked away with a double dose of Cabernet in her hair!! It's the kind of red that is vibrant in the sunlight...so I had to add some foils and lift certain areas a little more...I then went in and gave her a beautifully layered and textured haircut...we finished it off with a totally fun straight look for a normally wavy haired girl...she couldn't stop running her fingers through her hair...totally cute!!!

Searching For The Perfect Make-Up Academy

What creates the perfect Make-Up Artist? Seriously?

In anything you do, I believe that you need to have passion for what you are doing.
However, passion isn't everything...there is more...a lot more...and I'm not sure what it is.

Therefore, the search has begun for the perfect make-up academy. I think it is very important that no matter what the field of work you may be in, that you have the proper education for it. I don't doubt that there are fanatics out there who were born with the ability to create art without the proper training...and I envy those people...while at the same time, I stop to wonder if that is ever enough...being fanatics. I'd like to think of myself as having a little bit of that artistic fanatic in me...but I am not ashamed to say I don't know it all.

For the past couple days, I have been dedicating some time to the search of the perfect make-up academy. When I say perfect, I am not talking about 'Perfect' in every aspect, but more so perfect for me. When I talk to the enrollment office, I want to feel butterflies in my stomach. Is that weird? I just want to make sure that I choose the right path and go the direction that leads me to success not failure.

In this world of 'googling'...I thought what better way to find out who is out there...where can I go to get my feet wet, and come out of the program completely soaked? Where can I go that will take the passion I already have and make me crave more? To tell you the honest truth...at this moment in time I have no Idea what-so-ever!!!

Who knew that there were so many Make-Up schools?? Researching these schools is going to get tougher. I have already received calls from 2 different schools...and I politely say that at this moment in time, I am still in search of the academy that suits me perfectly, decline the tour, and ask for brochures in the mail. I am being honest right?

Enrollment offices are like vultures sometimes...and I feel like the prey! I guess a lot of schools are that way...cause each student adds to the tuition received. It is quite sad thinking that for most places, that is what it is all about, that extra tuition. I am not a millionaire!!! I am actually looking into schools that are offering financial aid, and loans...but you never want to mention that off the bat. I want to feel convinced that at the end of my course in whichever academy I choose, I will have the confidence to go out and consider myself a Make-Up Artist.

Introducing Tawny Tsang Photography

Introducing Tawny Tsang Photography...I wanted to share
a small collection of my favorite pictures by Tawny Tsang.
A couple weeks ago, she used me as a 'model' for a few shots...
and I put those up as well...I think the pictures are amazing.
The link to her page is on the right...check it out! :)

Sparkle Your Destiny

'Sparkle Your Destiny' is a dream in the process of becoming a reality. The dream came from my Best Friend Tawny Tsang who out of the blue while sitting at a small table inside Border's Cafe blurted to me...I forgot to tell you, but I know exactly what it is I can vision you doing!! I admit, I was a bit skeptical at her sudden enthusiasm for my career...but she is my best friend, and who better to listen to than her.

'What is this dream'? Have you ever heard anyone say 'Do What You Love and Love What You Do' or maybe it is the other way around 'Love What You Do and Do What You Love' either way...they both sound pretty darn good. About 4 years ago, I attended Cosmetology School...not so much with the passion to do hair, but the passion to bring art to life. I love that terminology 'Bring Art To Life' and it can be done in so many ways...my way of bringing art to life is exactly what is behind 'Sparkle Your Destiny'.

Throughout cosmetology school, I realized I really enjoyed working with colors. When you give an artist a paint brush, what does he need? He needs an empty canvas to bring his art to life! While in cosmetology school, I realized that my canvas as an artist were all the beautiful faces right before me. Everyone had their own shade of skin, their own look, different shaped eyes, different shaped faces, different shaped lips...and totally different personalities! I dreamed of what kind of make-up would enhance their features, without hiding their natural beauty...I was itching to learn, to use them as my canvas as I pulled out my 'paint kit'...the only obstacle in my way was that Cosmetology School never emphasized the art of Make-Up...it was all about the HAIR!!! Coloring hair in my opinion was a little bit too messy...and not so artistic!!!

Reluctantly, I did what I was told, I cut, colored, and styled hair day in and day out...and the very few slight chances I had to play with make-up I made the best of it. I will never regret everything that I learned about hair...because I developed a slight passion for hair...but it can never compare. This is the beginning of a brand new journey...as I dust off the old paint kit, and search for empty canvasses to bring my art to life. Join me in my journey...as I rediscover my dream of bringing the art of make-up to life.
